About Scott Bruun

Scott Bruun was elected State Representative for Oregon House District 37 in 2004, and reelected in 2006 and 2008. During the 2009 Legislative Session, Scott served on the House Revenue and House Healthcare committees.

As a minority member of the legislature, Representative Bruun was instrumental in the passage of metals theft; school nutrition; electronic recycling; consumer protection; diabetes management legislation; and a comprehensive plan for pro-job tax reform. Scott is known for his ability to bridge divides and bring diverse interest groups together for common-sense solutions.

Scott Bruun is now a candidate for U.S. Congress in Oregon’s 5th congressional district. In congress, Scott will fight for job creation and economic growth, be a hardworking and reliable advocate for local families, and work to expand Oregon’s trade, energy and natural resource opportunities.

As an Oregon legislator, Scott’s success has come from his ability to bring Oregonians together and move Oregon forward. As a member of congress Scott will do the same.

In addition to his duties as a legislator and congressional candidate, Scott is vice president of investor relations for a successful Oregon-based investment company. Prior to this, Scott was the CFO of a successful, regional commercial construction company. Scott also worked for more than ten years in commercial banking.

Scott has a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Oregon, and an MBA degree from Portland State University. Prior to both, Scott graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.

Scott Bruun is active in charitable, church and youth sports activities. He currently serves as a board member of the Oregon Cultural Trust; and has previously served as board member of the Oregon Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; vice president of the Oregon Chapter of the Theodore Roosevelt Association; and board member of the Oregon Diabetes Coalition. In 1996, Scott was a candidate and Republican nominee for U.S. congress (CD3).

Scott enjoys hiking and mountain climbing, fishing, running, weight training, reading and book collecting. He and his wife Alison are the proud parents of two daughters, eleven year-old Natalie and seven year-old Katie. The Bruun family lives in West Linn, Oregon.
